Christmas Cocktails, Introducing Pentire

I’m back with my third and final ‘non alcoholic cocktails at Christmas’ instalment.

As a massive gin lover and with my new found love for sea foraging, I could not have been more excited to come across Pentire, producers of the most delicious botanical non-alcoholic spirits. I’ve managed to get over my love for wine and move on from it, I know it destroys my angry IBS tummy, but gin is my remaining weakness on the alcohol front.

The guys at Pentire are skilled in foraging and distilling unique plants native to the Cornish Coastline. Just check out their insta grid to see the unenviable views they look out to from their ‘office’, it’s just stunning. And this is probably the best way to describe their drinks.

I could taste those flavours from the sea, one sip transported me to Port Isaac on the south coast of England where they are based. I took a 50ml measure of Adrift and treated it just as I would a classic G&T. Served over ice, topped up with @fevertree classic tonic and garnished with a little rosemary from my garden. A true delicious classic.

Next up in my taste test, a Martini, following a classic Pentire recipe. I took a 50 ml measure of Pentire Adrift, a little olive brine, a few slightly crushed black peppercorns, a squeeze of clementine and some maple syrup, added some ice and gave it all a good shake. I took a strainer, poured it in to a martini glass and finished by garnishing with a couple of my fave Nocellara olives on the side. This one is special. I felt like I was drinking something truly luxurious and didn’t miss the alcohol one bit.

These guys are passionate about the natural landscape surrounding them. They pick their own ingredients, make the product by hand and care about our environment – offering free next day carbon offset delivery and supporting the Blue Marine Foundation. And their authenticity came through the minute I held the bottle of Adrift in my hands. You know when you pick it up that a lot of love has gone in its entire production.

Since writing this blog, a new limited edition spirit called Seaward has launched. I’ve not tried it yet, but just reading the list of ingredients I know I need to. Sea buckthorn alone is rich in antioxidants and bursting full of flavonoids, a plant compound known to strengthen our immunes. Along with other goodies such as sea rosemary and pink grapefruit, it’s no wonder this drink is described as a bright, zesty spirit. Poured over ice, topped with @fevertree tonic and garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit, this sounds right up my street!

These guys live and breathe the sea and as a fellow sea lover, determined to live a more mindful life, I think I’ve met my new best friends.

As pre Christmas gift to you lovely lot I’ve managed to grab a 20% discount off both drinks. Simply head on over to the Pentire shop, choose your goodies – either a one time purchase or subscribe and save – and enter HAPPTGUT20 at checkout. Enjoy, these one’s are special.
